Over the course of the story you’ll see how Luffy recruited each of his Straw-hat Pirates and get to control them over the course of the game.
Within the game this allows Luffy to stretch out his arms and legs with more than enough reach against everyone else’s swords and guns. Having eaten a Devil fruit when he was younger, Luffy has been essentially turned into a rubber man. He is seeking out the ultimate pirate treasure, The One Piece, to become the Pirate King. One Piece is the story of Monkey D Luffy, an aspiring pirate who is building up a crew of the best pirates he can find. Most games of this genre are battles based around the Romance of the Three Kingdoms but Pirate Warriors 3 is instead set within the world of One Piece, a long-running Manga, and Anime series. It’s not uncommon to end a stage having defeated 2000 or more soldiers. With large battlefields come large armies, that will often surround you as you fight your way through. For those who aren’t, the games are generally a third-person hack and slash that take place in large battlefields.
With a great assortment of modes including couch co-op, there’s tons of hours of fun to be had.If you’ve heard of Dynasty Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors or Hyrule Warriors, then you have some idea what a Musou game entails. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel in any way but it knows exactly what its offering to its players. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 is a great entry to the franchise. That being said, the endless waves offer up some good, mindless fun that in many levels reminded me more of Ninety-Nine Nights (another clone of the genre) rather than just Dynasty Warriors. It keeps the energy up as your hero dispatches wave after wave of, very simple in their geometry, AI combatants. That being said, the music designed for the game (not even a part of the show) is consistently exciting and in keeping with the tone. They, though cut and past from the show, don’t grab the attention of the viewer or blow anybody away with set-pieces. However, beyond the character models, the game’s environments don’t offer up much to look at. Cell-Shaded for the WinĪs far as the art style of the game goes, it employs cell-shading like many other anime games to evoke the drawings of the show brought into a 3D world. In this sequel’s case, the Dressrosa arc. That being said, as the third entry in this particular video game series, you can expect (much like the Budokai series, or Naruto Ninja Storm series) a rehash of all the shows story moments up to the point in the manga where this game was made. That isn’t a problem because, if done well, just as Dragonball Z Budokai modeled itself after any number of 1v1 fighters like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat-it can make the game exciting while offering familiar characters with familiar powers. Not alone in branching from anime series, One Piece shamelessly clings to the video game series it was modeled after.
